Rug Cleaning in Delaney Park
Collection and delivery in Delaney Park are included. We take the rug back to the workshop, wash it properly, and bring it home.
What Delaney Park is built from
South of downtown between the hospital campus and Lake Cherokee: brick streets, a canopy of very large live oaks, and houses running from the 1920s through to new infill on the same lots. Wood floors in the older stock, tile and engineered board in the newer.
Families, medical households working rotating hours, and owners who have been in the same house for decades — frequently along with the same rugs, which have never been anywhere else.
The Delaney Park problem
The oak canopy is the defining feature of this neighborhood and it is not a neutral one. Deep permanent shade keeps the ground, the north side of a house and the rooms behind it several degrees cooler and correspondingly wetter than the same house three streets over, so a rug in a shaded room dries more slowly than an identical rug in the sun. The canopy also drops a steady supply of leaf litter, acorn debris and pollen onto brick walkways, and once that is wet and walked in it goes into a rug as tannin — a brownish stain that wicks up through the pile as the rug dries, which is why it usually appears days after whatever caused it and not at the time. The third thing here belongs to the households rather than the trees: shift work means bedrooms that are darkened and kept shut through the day. Dark, still, warm, undisturbed and slightly damp is the complete set of conditions clothes moths want, and the underside of a rug beneath a bed is where we find them.
If that sounds like your rug, send the form and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you whether it needs the full treatment or not.
